The Good News and the Bad News

So, I have some good news and bad news.

Bad news first: I didn't get to run the Mt. Bigelow ascent with TTR yesterday. :/ I had been training for this run for months! I was so bummed. I had to back out because my lifeguarding final skills test was moved to Sunday and I didn't want to be completely exhausted for it.

However....the good news...

I'm a certified lifeguard!!! I passed my test! :)

I filled out the application to work at a city pool and answered some interview questions before I went home.
Now, I only have one dilemma: What should I do this summer?

I have an interview today to be a day camp counselor (something that I love to do and I'm really good at, I think). :)

So, I have to choose between being a city lifeguard (a completely new experience) or a day camp counselor (a somewhat new experience, I have never worked at a day camp before, only a resident camp).

Both will help me on my way to becoming a camp director so I'm stuck.
Any suggestions on how I should decide??

Camp NaNoWriMo

So, my first post about camp isn't really a camp at all.
Camp NaNoWriMo is more of an online writing retreat.

I had two reasons for starting a blog:
1. I needed motivation for running
and
2. I wanted to improve my writing.

I definitely found motivation.
There is a HUGE running blogging community.

And I made myself write almost weekly, so in a way, that did help to improve my writing.

But then I heard about NaNoWriMo:
National Novel Writing Month.

It's November, if you're wondering.
;)

And I looked into doing it, but I was overwhelmed with my job and school.
The goal is to write 50,000 words in a month.
Not the easiest thing to do.

So, now I'm looking into Camp NaNoWriMo.
It's a smaller version of the original during the summer months.
I've been tossing around a few ideas for stories.
I love reading, I really do, but it's really hard to find something that matches my expectations and interests.
Half of the time, they're not doing it right. :)

With Camp NaNoWriMo, I get to pick my own word goal,
I think I'll go for 10,000 just to start out,
and I get "cabin-mates" who can encourage and proof read what I write.

Anyway, sounds pretty good. I'll let you know how it goes. :)
